Smooth, melodious, soulful, sultry, warm, textured
– just a few words that describe this amazing voice. Often
compared to the likes of Sade and Roberta Flack, singer/songwriter
Nick-e is a shining star on the rise, eager to share her experiences
with the world through song. Pouring her innermost thoughts and
feelings into her music, Nick-e’s uninhibited approach to
song writing allows the listener to truly relate to her heart while
drawing them into an understanding of self.
Influenced by such artists as Mariah Carey, Sade,
and Nancy Wilson, Nick-e’s style demonstrates hints of old
jazz meets new soul. Nick-e’s love of music came early at
the tender age of 3 when she discovered a love for singing. Constantly
surrounded by the infectious sounds of such artists as Diana Ross,
Anita Baker, The Stylistics and Prince, Nick-e decided then that
the art of musical creation was definitely something that she wanted
to be a part of her life..
Born and raised just east of Toronto, Nick-e’s
high school years were mostly spent in the music room, singing in
jazz choirs to help develop her talent as a vocalist. In 1998, Nick-e
enrolled in Fanshawe College’s Music Industry Arts program
for Recorded Music Production and left with 2 awards – an
award from Great Big Music studios for best vocal performance and
the “Mark Corporal Award” for best song writing, presented
to her by EMI Music Publishing Canada’s President, Michael
McCarty. Fanshawe proved to be a huge stepping stone in Nick-e’s
career as a recording artist. Since then, Nick-e has been a part
of many projects by up and coming artists; one of them being the
featured vocalist on three albums by Ottawa House DJ Rise Ashen.
Nick-e continues to write and record in hopes to
leave her mark on the music industry for years to come. Inspired
daily by all the ups and downs that life brings, Nick-e’s
music captures a mélange of emotions and great deal of truth.
Her goals in both music and life are simple – “be thankful,
share joy, soothe pain, spread love”.
This is her song. |
